I think this generation is reacting to the fact that there are so many worn-out ideas and outdated modes of thinking. You can’t go on replicating the same experience forever so you challenge it. You challenge your own concept of self, of your environment of whatever fear or suffering thing is holding you back from achieving whatever mental stability and peace of mind you want. And mostly because this moment and the 24 hours we have psychologically given ourselves is so fleeting and can easily disappear, so it’s important to live in a moment and get lost inside it.

[ I’ve been exploring the salad days of G-funk lately and this hit me like a brick, especially the jazzy opening. The horns just flood your brain with nostalgia. This tune is uncharacteristic of what was mainstream in West Coast rap at the time, and is such an about face from artists like Pac, Cube and other bravado tough-guy emcees that were the norm.
I like that Skee raps about his inadequacies and insecurities and is constantly aware of his ego and its fragility. There’s something so pure about the delivery of this track that makes it a perfect novelty rap record of its time. Sounded like nothing else coming out L.A. radio ]
